Dr. Liang received a degree in biochemistry at the University of Chicago and spent time in research at Merck, a pharmaceutical company with a focus on discovering drugs to treat the unwanted effects of the male hormone testosterone. Dr. Liang’s research contributed to the discovery of finasteride for treating benign prostatic hyperplasia (Proscar) and baldness in men (Propecia).

Dr. Liang earned his medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine in 1987. After completing his residency at the University of Chicago Hospital, he taught for four years at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio also serving as the chairman and director of the dermatology residency program.

In 1995, Dr. Liang returned to the Chicago area to open Bolingbrook Dermatology. He is a member of the American Academy of Dermatology, American Medical Association, Chicago Society of Dermatology and the Illinois Dermatologic Association.
